14 months & 18 weeks

I was going to stop doing the monthly updates for Carter after he turned a year old but oh my gosh he is too much fun now and so much has changed that I don't want to forget these times. Also, I wanted to be sure to do some kind of pregnancy update with baby #2 since I'm almost HALF WAY done! What?!? Having an active 1 year old boy, being pregnant and working has not been a walk in the park and my free time is slim, but I am determined to keep up.

We'll start with baby #2 first:

At 18 weeks, baby #2...

Gave me a bit more nausea then Carter did, but nothing to write home about. As long as I ate breakfast I was fine. However, just like with Carter, I was exhausted during the first trimester and I did have some not so fun lower back pain for awhile. Right now nothing really to report though symptom wise!

Is about the size of a large bell pepper (or 6 inches long, not including the legs) but should only weigh about 7 ounces.

Is a boy! Our boys always seem to be very proud of themselves because even though we found out way early (13 weeks) for both of them, our techs were always 95% positive each time. I have my mid-way screening next week though where we'll get further confirmation.

Is very, very wiggly. Carter was always really chill when I was pregnant with him. We'd have to prod him a little bit to get him to move around for his measurements during ultrasounds but this one was bouncing off the walls in both ultrasounds so far. Hopefully this isn't a sign of what's to come...

Is making his presence known much quicker than his older brother did. Looking back I really don't think I even looked pregnant until I was about 6 or 7 months along but I'm definitely already showing this time around. I'm in the market for some longer shirts and dresses since I was able to successfully avoid a summer pregnancy last time :| I'm glad Richard scored a great new job because our PG&E bill is about to skyrocket! Sorry honey!

Next! Carter :)

At 14 months, Carter...

Begs to go outside all day. I can't even show him his shoes or say "bye bye" or "outside" without him immediately bolting to the front door. Our apartment complex has zero grass so unfortunately going outside is a bit of a chore but I make sure to take him shopping, to the park or on a long walk every day that I have him. Luckily we are moving to a condo shortly that has it's own outdoor space so I can let him outside to play whenever he wants. Also, he's at my parents house constantly which has 1/3 acre backyard so don't feel too bad.

Has recently been trying to sit in everything. Boxes, laundry baskets, garbage cans, storage bins...everything. The smaller the space the better though! He loves trying to cram himself in tiny places. My claustrophobic self would freak out but he thinks it's the best.

Is super smart. I know every Mom says this about their own kid so take this for what it's worth but I am just blown away with how much he can comprehend.

When I tell him no, he'll do one of two things. Either tell me "new" (no) back with the saddest but cutest little defeated voice orrrr sit there and smile and wave at me because he knows it makes me smile and I'm not able to continue on with my stern voice. I'm done for, I know.

Loves sticks and rocks. Such a boy. We owe our next door neighbors at least 20 river rocks from all the one's he's stolen on walks. Whooopsssy.

Is starting to transition to one nap a day. Before it was two naps ranging from 1-1.5 hours each and now he'll take one afternoon nap anywhere around 12:30 that lasts at least two hours.

Is starting to get a bit more picky with food. I attribute this to us giving him more "fun" food. He'll still eat his vegetables, we just have to give them to him first before we give him the rest of his meal.

Begs for a nana (banana) almost every day. They are his favorite. Along with pasta. However, I think he might have some type of allergy to marinara sauce because he seems to get a rash whenever I give it to him. I'm still testing out this hypothesis though.

Loves to use his fork and is getting pretty good! He is most successful with large chunks of fruit.

Is still going strong with the bottle like 3 times a day. I know he "should" have been taken off at a year but I'm not concerned. My goal is to wean him off a few months before the baby is born so he won't try to take it away haha

Is still the most crazy kid I have ever encountered. He gets into everything and our apartment always looks a tornado has struck but for the most part, he is just so happy so I try to not let it bother me. I will miss the messes someday, right?

Loves to sweep, mop and vacuum. He also loves to push around strollers and grocery carts. Richard has a video of him actually pushing our full Winco shopping cart the other day. This boy has some guns for sure.

Will not sit in the shopping cart seat. He's pretty good about not climbing out of the main shopping cart area. Most of the time I just let him walk along with me. We've only lost him in a store once so far! Lol

Has mastered escaping the pews at church. Is also such a distraction for the primary kids during sharing/singing time that I usually just end up walking the hallways or going to nursery with him. It's a good thing Rich watches him during 2nd hour or those kids would NOT listen to my lesson. I don't blame them though, he is pretty cute ;)

Absolutely loves the water. In the last month or so he's been able to feel the ocean waves, play in the sprinklers, swim in a swimming pool and splash around at a splash pad and he loves it all!

Has started to give kisses on command and I basically beg for them all day. He laughs after giving them each time. They are totally open mouthed and straight to the lips but I just can't get enough.

Can't wait to see these two trouble makers together!!
