La Jolla

What's a trip to San Diego without going to the beach, right?
We decided to go to a beach that my sister and brother-in-law had taken me too back when they lived down here when I was little, La Jolla.
It has this awesome cave, decent temperature water, pretty sand and angry seals. What's not to like?

I was like completely freaking out when I saw this seal, as if I had never seen one before. I was like
"Richard LOOK there's A SEAL!!!" I mean, how cool right? It was just chillin' like a villian.

...but then Richard proceeded to point to a rock that HE discovered with like, the rest of the seal/sea lion
family reunion. How typical. Anyways are they seals or sea lions? Is there even a difference?
They were totally barking at each other and fighting the whole time it was awesome. You can't really tell in this picture, but homeboy in the bottom left corner was waving his head around yelling at all of the other lazy sleeping ones. They never even moved. I imagine that is what my life will turn into when morning seminary comes around & I need to wake up all 12 of my kids. Only I won't have 12 kids. Anyways.

We brought a boogie board to play with (Amanda if you're reading this, YES it is the one that the random boat guy gave us and YES Richard stole it "on accident" and YES we will give it back) but after Richard barely got into the water he was scolded to stop by the lifeguard. I guess there were too many people snorkeling in the area so any type of water toys weren't allowed.

After awhile even more people started to come snorkeling so Richard wanted to know what the deal was. He went up to a surf shop and bought some cheapy goggles (I originally typed googles and it took me forever to figure out why that word was wrong, HA!) and there were fish everywhere!! Like really pretty finding nemo status fish, and A LOT of them. I only saw a few of them because honestly I don't like when fish are 2 inches from my feet. It sorta freaks me out. Plus, the water was so clear that I didn't really need goggles...which caused for some more Brittney climbing onto Richard's back and nearly drowning action.
Clearly this was not the first time this has occurred. When we went snorkeling in the Bahamas for our honeymoon, we saw super gorgeous baby fish. Like smaller than my hand baby fish...

BUT THEN!

this monster STINGRAY swims RIGHT underneath me so I obviously freak out and climb on Richard's back as he's swimming and nearly drown him. No bueno, my friend's no bueno. I digress.

The beach was wonderful. Very relaxing and just what we needed in a vacation. The perfect ending?

Geico, of course. Haha this was flying around for like 15 minutes.

Little Italy...fo reals this time

So after doing a little research...
We decided to go to the restaurant that had the longest wait and was the least snobby. (Although I DO want to go somewhere fancy Richard, hint hint!) The restaurant itself is attached to an Italian mini-market. The mini-market was there first and the family did so well that they decided to add on a restaurant. There were pictures of the family everywhere. Like, school soccer, wedding and yearbook pictures. Like real deal pictures. It was cute. Reminded me of Luna's in Old Town.

There were signed/decorated bottles allllllllll over the entire ceiling.

San Diego Zoo

Besides the fact that like 75% OF THE ANIMALS WERE SLEEPING the Zoo was great :) Here's like 5 million pictures. Enjoy.

This was like the Miss America of peacocks. It faced the crowd and did 180degree spins all day.

Richard's alter ego (the rebel) they even have the same birthday!!

                                                                          So tender.
Cool aquarium in the atrium! And my husband has nice calves ;)
                                                                        Soooo pretty.

                                                               Garden of Eden, much?

These shots are for you Alyssa :)

I feel bad for saying it..but this was literally the ugliest animal I've ever seen. It was like foaming from the mouth. I'd rather cuddle with an opposum.
Herbs and veggies were growing all over the place.

                                                                            Buckbeak!

So bummed my favorites were sleeping :(
On the air-rail. Not happy. Richard kept rocking it!
My feelings on the giant snake...
                                                                           Gieco?

This was the most beautiful animal ever. Such shiny fur and its eyes were like the most gorgeous green!
This guy wanted OUT. He was like pawing at the roof...
SO adorable. We had to wait in line for 30 mins to see him, so worth it.

                                                                                HA
