I've decided that 3 months is absolutely my jam. I love this stage so, so much. He is at his utmost squishiness, lays on the baby smiles pretty heavily now and is starting to laugh. This kid...

SIZE: According to his clothing, he's measuring right on track. I've packed up his newborn and most of his 0-3 month clothes and have started him in his 3 month clothes. The 3-6 month items are still a bit too roomy on him but the 3 month clothes fit perfectly! We have one last bag of size 1 diapers that we're trying to get through and then we'll be up to size 2s!
This past month I was able to see two of my friends new sweet baby girls and OH MY GOSH they are so tiny and made me realize I no longer have a newborn! I find myself looking through week one photos of him on my phone during nighttime feedings...
We don't have a 3 month doctors appointment, but I will look forward to seeing how much he grew at his 4 month check-up!
In the meantime, I will relish in his chunkiness...

EYES: Big brown puppy dog eyes :)

HAIR: His hair is starting to fall out a bit around the back from moving his head around a ton while we have him on the ground. He has hair on top, then a little ring of thinning hair, and then basically, a mullet haha. Business in the front, party in the back I say :)
SLEEPING: This little dude really likes to keep me guessing. About a week ago he went through this stage where he slept for 8+ hours a night! For like, 4 nights in a row! It sort of came out of nowhere and I thought we were turning a new leaf! However, we are now back to his normal 4-5 hour stretch then up every 2 hours after that. I've been over analyzing every little thing that I did that could have made that magic happen, but I've determined that it might have just been a little tender mercy to keep me sane. However, since we know he is capable of sleeping well...we've decided to move him to his crib after my brother-in-law and sister-in-law are done staying with us for the weekend. He takes naps in it during the day (when I'm not holding him that is...guilty) and seems to actually really like it. One time I put him down for his nap and came back to check on him and he was wide awake staring up at his map without making a peep. It was too cute.
EATING: Still going well! I've noticed he gets distracted while he eats a bit more now so it's harder to keep him focused but that's okay. He's still exclusively eating breastmilk which can be a pain at times when we're out and about but I'm so grateful I've been able to maintain that while working part time so I'd like to keep it going as long as possible. I've toyed with the idea of one formula bottle a day for convenience sake to but I'm in no rush to decide.

MILESTONES:
-He's rolled over! I missed it the first two times (the major downfall of being a working mom) but he did it TWICE within 5 minute for Richard and I on the day he turned 3 months. We've got the whole tummy-to-back thing down and he's SO close to rolling from his back to his tummy. We are very proud.
-He's VERY vocal now. He babbles all day long and it's just the cutest. He does a ton of "ooooh" and "ah-goos" that just melt us into a big puddle.
-He is smiling a ton more now. Especially for daddy. I sometimes get jealous because Richard gets waaay more cheesy smiles than I do, but let's be honest...Richard is a lot goofier and fun than me anyways. I get it kid, no harsh feelings.
-We've also got a couple of laughs out of him. He will either do a really small giggle or a big loud coughy fake sounding laugh. No real big belly laughs yet... but again, he doesn't hand his smiles/laughs out for free. I'm sure we will find something that will get him going.
-My favorite milestone thus far is that he really has started to respond to us. He's been repeating our "ah-goos" for awhile now but now Richard has this new trick where he will do the motorboat noise with his mouth/tongue and Carter will watch closely, smile, and then do it back! Richard and Carter will do this back and forth for like 15 minutes at a time. I have got to get this on video. I could watch that for the rest of my life and not get bored.
LOVES:
-This boy loves his hands. He's still chewing on them all day. I don't think he's teething yet because he doesn't seem like he's in pain when he's doing it. I think it's more just him exploring.
-He also has recently discovered his toes. Whenever he's sitting up, he stares at them and tries to grab them haha.
-Speaking of sitting up, that is this boys new favorite position. We're getting the kid a bumbo pronto!
-My dear friend Missy let us borrow her activity mat (thank you!) and oh my gosh Carter loves it! I'm sad we didn't get one for him sooner. He will lay down on that thing and swat and smile at the hanging toys forever. His favorite is the little yellow lion. He will sit there and smile and talk to it more than the others. As I write that, I realize that I am now "that" mom that thinks people cares to read about which stuffed toy her baby prefers lol ;)
-He still loves "running" with his legs and doing "gorilla" arms.
-Still a fan of getting his diaper changed. The more time naked, the better!
-He still loves his baths. However, he's basically outgrown this sink! Time to actually use his bathtub.
HATES:
-Hates his car seat still! I think most of it has to do with the heat. He's pretty mellow when it's still cool in the mornings but come afternoon, he is not happy to be in there haha. Can't say that I blame him though, Fresno is the worst. Dad-of-the-year Richard bought him a mini fan that clips onto his car seat handle which helps keep him cooled off. My car doesn't have rear AC vents and this little fan helps so much. I'm convinced that everyone needs one!
-Not super into extended periods of tummy time, but we're getting there! Now that he has more arm strength and can look around its not as bad.
HIGHLIGHTS
-He went to his first baseball game!
-He went swimming for the first time
