So I've decided to scrap the 10 question formatting that I had going on previously because, let's be real, my pregnancy "symptoms" are basically non-existent so a lot of the questions have become rather irrelevant.
I am currently 27 weeks which is the last week of the second trimester. Can you believe that? I always thought that this pregnancy would fly by since I was very, very busy during my first and second trimester. However, I can't say that it did! It has gone by pretty slowly for me but I am still having so much fun with everything that I don't mind one bit.
As you can see from the picture, I am officially huge! I'm pretty sure I have grown more in the last three weeks than I have throughout my whole pregnancy. According to my apps, the baby is around 15 inches long (ahh!!) and a little over two pounds. My uterus is supposed to be about the size of a basketball and I totally believe it! This morning was the first time that Richard had to help me put on my shoes haha :) Granted, they were pull-on ankle boots which are practically impossible to get on to begin with...but still! Bending over has become quite the chore.
Sleeping is now getting a little more tricky. The body pillow does help me to fall asleep but it usually ends up on the floor in the middle of the night. I am happy to say that I only have to get up for a middle of the night bathroom break maybe once every two weeks. However, the last two days I've ended up taking mid-day naps which is very unlike me so I'm thinking the 3rd trimester exhaustion is drawing closer. I am so grateful it waited until I was out of school!
I also had one day this week, Christmas Day to be exact, when my hands started to swell up a bit. I was worrying that I would have to say goodbye to my wedding ring for the remainder of the pregnancy but by the end of the day the swelling was gone and hasn't come back. My friend Amanda brought up that it could have just been that I ate a lot of salt but I'll probably go scope out some fake rings at Julia Vogue anyways just in case :)
The little guy is still active as ever. I am trying to get a grasp on what his schedule is like so that I can kind of monitor things. He is always very busy between like, 8-11pm as well as from like 11am-1pm. I try to get people to feel his kicks but so far only Richard and my niece Brooke have been able to feel anything. I have yet to have any strangers comment on my pregnancy but I'm sure that will be coming soon! I've had a few side eyes at the gym that I was pretty proud of! Haha
My next appointment is this Tuesday and I am curious to see the results of my glucose test. I am also planning to ask on how they determine if I'm measuring big or small. They haven't measured my fundal height yet and I don't think there will be any more ultrasounds so I'd like to know if everything is still on track. Richard and I also have hospital tours set up for both Community hospitals (downtown and Clovis) later in January which I am excited about. If you have an opinion on either one I'd love to hear! The only thing I worry about is cost. I know that Clovis Community only has private rooms and while I do have insurance through my work, we did end up qualifying for the AIM program (such a blessing!) which reduces our delivery costs but I doubt will cover a private room.
Finally, I don't know if it is the approaching New Year or nesting instincts to blame, but I've been dying to declutter everything in the apartment! I got rid of all my old textbooks, binders, notepads and so forth. The next stop....closets!
Happy early New Year!
